Sheffield Road (East side) : Ebenezer & Doncaster Rd junction
This view from 1961 shows the junction of Doncaster Road (on the left) and Sheffield Road (right), the Ebenezer Chapel at the hub of the 'split'. The policeman standing in front of the church by the telephone box looks straight at the photographer and a couple walk up Sheffield Road and on the opposite pavement, near the Alhambra cinema a man walks in the direction of town, avoiding the pavement! If the church clock was right the image was taken at almost 4.40 pm.
