Shambles Street : (South side) : Harrals Stores (1)

Image

Harrals Stores (The White House) was built in 1926 and functioned here until 1976 when it was replaced by Yates's Wine Lodge. Harrals was a substantial business, used by generations of local families to start and refurnish their homes. The whitePortland stone-style facing was fairly typical of the larger Art Decor period commercial buildings in Barnsley and elsewhere.
