Shambles Street : (North side) : Barnsley Bottling Co.

In 1960, towards the end of Shambles Street (northern side) stood a small group of private and commercial dwellings (83-85), W. Slater & Sons occupying premises in the yard behind them; and next door mineral water makers E.P Shaw and Co. Both were long established businesses, Shaw's from 1905 and Slater from 1928. The well-known Barnsley Bottling Company, its gable facing the street, was established inin about 1924, suceeded by the Barnsley Canister Company in 1970. Right at the end of the street is Park Cottage, the garden house serving the small park at Townend
