Regent Street : J.P.Binner (view 1)

Image

Looking rather dilapidated when this image was taken, probably in the 1890s, J.P.Binner occupied old stone-built premises at the junction with Eastgate. The business concerned sewing machines, according to the advertising notice running across the main building; and also functioned as a furniture broker, sourcing household furniture for private customers and the trade. Binners appears to have been quite large, the gable end of the building having typical first floor loading facilities. Prior to demolition it operated from at least 1886 to 1894.
